Camping!!!

If you're looking for the Land & Sea alpha - scroll down....

Well, the forecasters were right - the weather was appalling, but guess who still went camping?? LOL! Yesterday morning, I was all ready not to go, but I didn't want to let my friend down - she'd got lots of food and drink and had other friends coming from London, so we decided to go just for the day and not stay the night! Well, all the best laid plans go awry, don't they? We were coerced (!) into staying the night!

Luckily, there is a BBQ hut by the lake which I slept in, so it wasn't too bad, but Rob slept in our smallish van with the two dogs! He hardly slept at all and now we are home, he is sleeping soundly next to me on the sofa while the Grand Prix is on TV!

When we arrived at the lake, it was a beautiful setting and was fairly dry. We couldn't resist getting the pedalos out and having a bit of a play on them, but the rain didn't take long to set in and we spent a lot of time in the hut having our BBQ and chatting. It was a lovely evening, but I do wish we'd come home, especially when the strong winds and really heavy rain set in during the night!! To top it off this morning, we got stuck in the mud and it took 4 people pushing to get us on our way!! Anyway, I made in home relatively unscathed and thought I would show you some of the photos...

First up, we have the BBQ hut - my friend's Dad owns a few saw mills and he sells these huts that are from Latvia - they are so adorable - I totally want one!

This is a photo of Pompey who is watching the pedalo fun wishing he could join in, but he doesn't swim so has to watch from the sidelines!

Lily has been swimming and has joined Pompey to watch the fun! Not for long though.....

This is what Lily wanted - to join in! She swam up to the pedalo and tried to get on, so hubby had to pull her up and then she wanted to go along for the ride! She is so funny in this photo!

Here is the built in BBQ inside the hut - it is great and makes the hut soooo warm!

And this is what Pompey and Lily looked like at the end of the night! LOL! No need for you to see what I looked like - take it from me, it was not pretty!! ROFL!

Your doggies are so sweet ;) My hubby has wanted a lab since before we met 14 Years ago! We have a Siamese Cat that my daughter talked us into adopting from the shelter. I agree... that BBQ Hut IS toooo cute! I want One too... where do you get them? I live in the U.S. in Tropical Florida though so I don't know about the warm and cozy although we have had some cold Winters ( not too typical ) in the 37 Years I have lived here. Well, Thank You for the Land & Sea! BFN

What a fun story! We spent most of the holiday weekend at our lake cabin. It is as close to camping as I prefer to get. I DO NOT sleep in tents in Montana. We have grizzly bears and mountain lions. I will pass on that thank you very much! We have an American version of the pedalo... the paddle boat. It has room for the dogs to ride,,, and they do. I am posting a photo in the slide show, as I am not sure how to send you one. We do spoil the pets, don't we!!! Anyway, our experience was opposite yours. We were at the lake (40 miles from home). A storm blew through at our house. It knocked out the electricity for 29 hours, and ripped some very large pine trees. What a mess we came home to. I guess I am glad we went "camping" at our cabin on the lake!

Thnks so much for the Land and Sea layout! It's wonderful!

It looks like you came home with some wonderful memories and pictures even though you didn't enjoy camping overnight. Thank you for sharing them, and thank you for the very useful alpha.

That hut looks SO cool! It sounds like you had a fun time, even though the weather was crummy. At the very least, Pompey and Lily looked like they enjoyed themselves! Take it easy today! Thanks so much for the alpha.

Pompey doesn't swim??? Has anyone informed him he is a lab? LOL, his Canadian cousins would be deeply disappointed. Throw my Bristol in there and we'd have all 3 colours.

That BBQ hut is unbelievable! Absolutely gorgeous. What wonderful pictures....course I'm partial to the one of the labby's on the dock. :) Glad you're home and no worse for wear.

I want a BBQ hut! Our BBQ was a total wash out. A hut would have come in handy. I'm off to Google BBQ huts!

I love your doggies!

Im glad you made it home safe and sound. You were brave to stay all night...with the rain and the wind I would have so been out of there. Thanks for the cute alpha!

Nice reportage of your Camping day ! I love the hut too ! Well, while you were by the lake, I was by my computer with 2 layouts from Beach Holiday.... Watched the Williams sisters and now, I'm waiting the men's final that is only showing at 8.45pm...so I'm not listening to the news !!! LOL !
Scratches to the Dogs for me !!!

Cute doggy pics! It reminds me of the days before we had kids and we would take our dogs everywhere. Kids spoil everything!! We had two Weimarieners (now we have one) and one would swim and one didn't. It was the funniest thing.

The hut is so cute, I want one too! haha. But with the heat of the tropics, BBQ will be outside :)

the dogs are darling! sleeping that way. And I bet Pompey was so jealous of Lily because he didn't get to swim.

HUT ...... What HUT? It looks like a palace, a palace with a built in BBQ and a beautiful lake and a flippin' pedalo! When you said you would be camping I thought tents, ground sheets, tent pegs, latrines. But no I was wrong, you are so funny Vicki, you crack me up. I'm glad you had fun and the photo's are super. You've got to love England, never a dull moment when it comes to the weather!

I watched tennis allllllllll weekend, it was fab.

TTFN :) x

Those hut things are cool! We don't have anything like that here. I'd have stayed in the hut too...Camping is not my thing! Those 'pedalos' are like a ride they had at the amusement park back when I was a little girl. Looks like a good time despite the storminess. :) Hey... and you even survived it none the worse for wear.
PS: thanks for another great kit!

Love your pictures and love the kit...and it's too funny that one of your Labs doesn't swim - I thought something was wrong, since mine are sisters, and Emma refuses to go in the lake unless she can touch bottom, while Izzy will swim along behind our paddle boat! Glad to know they aren't as strange as I thought!

Oh my goodness! That hut is the CUTEST thing I have ever seen! Welcome back from the land of the outdoors!

AAAWWWW...the dogs are so sweet! I have one yellow and one chocolate lab and they would have been in heaven on your camping trip! I had better not show them the pictures or they will be jealous! I can't believe there is a Lab somewhere in the world that doesn't swim. That's so weird! I want a BBQ hut now, too. Oh yeah, and a house on a lake! :)

Wow looks like you had fun while it lasted. I remember a camping trip that we got talked into staying against my better judgement. It was under 40 degrees F (and for a Florida gal that cold) plus the wind was really blowing. The tent sides heaved in and out all night. Got up in the morning and drove around in the van for an hour with the heat on to warm up. They tried to get us to stay another night by offering a plug in heater. They had a nice PopUp. I said NO, NO. I won and we left after dark and smores. Just as we were heading out the electricity to the whole grounds went out so that plug in heater wouldn't have been much good.

Thank you so much for always sharing your talents with us. I leave comments on the download page, but I thought I would say thanks here once in a while too.

I have never even heard of a BBQ hut. That is the coolest thing! I loved the photos. Thanks for sharing. A few years back we got our car stuck in the mud after a big rain storm. It is very stressful, especially since I don't like getting dirty.

I love the picture of Pompey and Lilly sleeping. It is so adorable. I don't think I have ever met a Lab that doesn't swim though... lol lol That's just hilarious. So you might not have wanted to go camping but what a great bunch of memories you have. A lot of people are not lucky enough to have them, so cherish everyone that comes along. And thanks so much for sharing the stories and the pictures.

Oh my, I so want one of those huts. How perfectly lovely. Your pictures are great and although it may not have been the best of camping trips, the puppies really seemed to enjoy themselves.
