August blog challenge!

Hi everyone - it's nearly the weekend and nearly August and I am thinking about a challenge again! Last time I did a scraplift challenge and it was really popular, so why change the format? LOL! This time we are going to lift someone else's layout - it's from one of my creative team and was made with my Flutterby Flowers kit - 'Blowing Bubbles' by Kim. I love how the multiple photos tells us a story making it unnecessary to have any journalling....

So, you need to create your own layout using this one as inspiration. As I said last time, don't just copy it - show us your creativity, but use this as inspiration, as a basis to your layout. You all did great last time, so I know you know what I mean!! I am going to have two winners for this challenge - the first will be chosen by me (am I crazy? LOL) and the second will be chosen at random from all entries and both will win GCs worth $10 to my store. So, what are you waiting for? Go ahead and create and upload to my scraplift challenge gallery here. There is only one rule and that is that you should use at least 80% my designs to make your layout - you can use any kits you like, freebies, store kits, collabs and feel free to mix and match. The deadline is 22nd August and I will announce the winner a couple of days later. Good luck!

Template freebie and last chance for retiring kits!

Well, I am glad the weekend is getting closer - after taking a week off work, I always find it difficult to get back into the swing of things and I feel really tired this week. I have enjoyed reading your comments about what you've been up to - I like knowing more about my blog readers! Thank you too for your kind comments and support regarding SNA which I really appreciate. I do feel less pressure right now because I am having a designing break and I've quit SNA and so if anyone has any questions they'd like to ask - please feel free (although, please don't ask me the dreaded 'how do I get started with digi scrapping' - that is my least favourite question!! LOL! Only kidding - there are some great sites out there that explain these things and I have a few links I can send you if you like ;). I was happy to help a fellow designer, Karen, yesterday who has been scouring the digi stores for a wreath like the one I used in Winter Warmer and just couldn't find one! I think she's a happy bunny now I've fixed her up with one on Gunhild Storeide's blog ;)

Back to the business of today and I wanted to remind you that I have 12 kits retiring on Saturday (31st July) in store and so if you wanted one of them, you should grab it now - they're just $1 and when they're gone - they really are gone for good.... Take a look at the preview and click here to go to the 'retiring soon' section in store.
And finally, here is your freebie template - it's based on a layout I did with one of Stacey's kits again - Sweetie Pie - I hope you like it. Click the preview to download! Chat to you all soon - TTFN....

Scrap N' Art - bye bye!

I wanted to let you all know that I have resigned from Scrap N' Art. I know that a few people contacted me and said that they only signed up because I was involved and I feel really bad about that, so I wanted to explain my reasons here.

I have worked with SNA for over a year now and I have given my all to them. I even paid to go to CHA in California myself to help raise the profile of SNA and to get more contributors on board. The magazine didn't make any money up until now and so I was happy to pay for my flight to California, my own hotel and CHA entry ticket - it was a great experience that I wouldn't have missed for the world. I don't think anyone could ever say I wasn't committed to the magazine. However, now I feel that the requirements of SNA, although not huge, are taking up too much of my time - time that I could be spending creating freebies for my wonderful blog readers and drumming up business for my own store which I have been pretty bad at doing so far - I don't think I am very good at advertising myself ;). My dream is to one day design full time, but to do that I must put in every effort to my own business through which I can earn some money, rather than a business which belongs to someone else for no monetary return. I do hope that doesn't make me seem selfish - it really is not my intention!

I hope those of you that signed up to SNA are not upset that I have resigned - you will still be getting fab digital freebies and the magazine, so plenty of return for your money. I still have some layouts in the September/ October issue, so watch out for those - I can't show them on my blog, so it will be nice to know that some of my blog readers are seeing them!

That's all for now folks - check back in a coupe of days for another freebie template!

Various things and a freebie!

So, it was a lovely week last week and I haven't told you all about it. I can sum it up in three words - friends, family and wine! On Tuesday, I went to my Mum's with the doggies for a couple of days. On Wednesday, we went on a shopping trip (minus dogs) and I treated myself to several new things ;). On Wednesday evening, I caught up with my friend Nicky who I haven't seen for a quite a while and we drank a few glasses of wine and caught up on all the gossip. Since I last saw her, she has a new boyfriend and two dogs - a black lab called Poppy and a rottweiler called Stella - both gorgeous and soooo well behaved. It was a great evening - I love spending time with friends - so relaxing.

Then, I came home on Thursday and on Friday I met my BFF Hayley for lunch. We went to Browns - which is a trendy restaurant/ bar in Bristol and it was a great catch up with more wine and girly chatting - fantastic! We sat outside and watched the world pass by while we caught up!

On Saturday, I had a call from my friend Nikki (we went to school together) - she has been in Peru on the Inca trail for a year working as a guide and so I haven't seen her since last year. She came to stay on Saturday night and we had - yes you guessed it - more wine! We also had a fantastic evening chatting, eating and watching a movie - very relaxing! Then on Sunday, we went shopping - what more can a girl ask? Friends and shopping!!

That was my week - I loved it! How was yours? What have you been up to recently? I would love to know!

OK, so I have some more layouts from my CT using my new kit - Berry Sweet - they are all gorgeous - I am sure you will find inspiration from them. You can still pick up the kit here for $3 - don't miss it because there won't be another store kit for a month...

This is a double page from Laramie... who knew Thanksgiving layouts would work? lol!

And I promised a template freebie for you - this is made from a layout I did using Stacey's 'Summer Lovin'' kit- take a look and click the image to download. Remember to leave some love if you download. TTFN.

New kits at Scrap That Idea!

I have been a very good CT member and I have a layout for all the kits this week!! Good for me! Check out all the kits....

First up is Stacey's Sweetie Pie kit - gorgeous as always! Here's my layout and the kit preview is below.

Next is Sara's Rise & Shine - this would go well with my Old MacDonald I think ;). However, I have done a non-farm layout ;).

Finally, Mel has two kits - Secret Garden and Mini Rainbow - very different to each other, but both very cute.

Berry Sweet kit

Well, today sees my last new store kit for a little while - I'm taking a designing break for a few weeks so that Mr Mojo doesn't decide to leave me forever!! LOL! The kit is called Berry Sweet and it's a muted mix of blue/ green/ grey but with a splash of raspberry red to make photos pop out of your page. Check it out in store - it's just $3 for a couple of days...

This is what my CT have done with it - more layouts to come in a day or two, so don't miss those. These layouts are divine!

And here is your freebie as always - a cluster frame this week! I hope you can find a use for it. Check back tomorrow - I have a freebie template for you! TTFN.

Uptown girl!

I have a week off work this week! Woohoo for me!! I am feeling great today - it's amazing the good a break can do a person and it's still only Monday morning! I don't intend to spend much time on the computer this week at all - just plenty of shopping, lunching with friends and spending time with my Mum and the doggies!

I went with Pompey and Lily to the vet this morning for their yearly booster jabs and they were both well behaved - phew!! No more fits for Lily - the vet was pleased about that and said that we're right not to give her meds just yet. Pompey, bless him, stays so still while the vet looks at him, but he hates having his temperature taken so he sat on his bum the whole time looking suspiciously at the vet, but he didn't have to have it taken today - silly boy!

Well, today's schedule is housework (because I was too lazy to do it at the weekend, I didn't even get dressed yesterday), then shopping for a birthday pressie for my sister and some nice dinner for tonight as we have a friend of hubby's staying a couple of nights. I won't be here tomorrow night, so I thought I would make a nice dinner - they'll probably have takeaway curry tomorrow night if I know men on their own!! lol! Then tomorrow the dogs and I are off to my Mum's for a couple of nights for them to be spoiled and for me to go shopping with my Mum and see a couple of friends who live near her.

Back to today and I have collaborated again with the lovely Mel who I love working with both in the store and on collabs - I have always been convinced we were separated at birth (even though she is a couple of years younger than me)!! We are so similar and I had never met anyone else who hated rice before I met Mel - LOL!! I can't wait til we meet in real life - which may be next year for the Soccer World Cup as it's being held in South Africa and one of the stadiums is in Durban - it will be easy to convince hubby that we NEED to go!! LOL! Our collab kit this month is called 'Uptown Girl' - we have often made collab kits with boy colours, but this one is definitely one for the girls - more specifically, one for the girls on the town!! This is the second time we have done a kit that contained a cocktail glass, but we don't have a problem - HONEST!! lol!

Today, you will get the papers from each of us, but let me show you what the whole kit looks like - both my part and Mel's....

And now let me show you my layout - I have been really bad at scrapping with my own kits recently, but I am hoping that will change over the next month or so while I have a break from designing. This is me and my friend Jenny - you'll notice it's my avatar photo, but I've left Jenny in this time!! ;).

And here is what my creative team did with the kit - there are some fantastic layouts here - I love seeing girls out enjoying themselves!!

So, the papers finally - sorry, it's been a long post! Click the link below my papers preview to download and click Mel's preview to whisk you away to her blog to download hers. Don't forget to leave some love and check back tomorrow for the elements. TTFN.

New kits at Scrap That Idea!

Well, you've seen my new kit, now it's time to show you the others in store this week. Mel was very naughty and threw in some more pastels - she knows I'm not a fan and I now think it's a conspiracy!! LOL! Here are 'Our Baby Girl' and 'Our Baby Boy' - pretty cute for pastel baby kits ;)!

And she also has a kit as part of her passions collection for Sara W. I didn't realise this one was going to be released this week, so I don't have a layout, but it's a very cool boys kit.

Next up is Stacey - her kit is called 'Summer Lovin' and it's a really easy kit to work with - I love the colour combo - check out my layout and Stacey's kit preview below.

And last, but not least, is this beauty from Sara - it's called Floral Delight and it is just that - a delight! This is my layout and the preview is clickable directly to store.
